iPhone 3GS sales through the roof

Apple have announced that they have sold 1,000,000 iPhone 3GS units over it's opening weekend!!

Wow!

That's 1,000,000 people who could have saved themselves the money and got a free iPhone 3GS following the 3 simple steps above!

iPhone Video Projector

iPhoneSuit are now selling the latest must have accessory for your free iPhone 3GS - a video projector!!

It is able to project video from your free iPhone 3GS up to a 40 inch screen and connects with a VGA input cable and an RCA input cable. Conveniently it can also connect to a laptop PC or DVD player. Oh yeah, and I want one!

The new iPhone 3GS, summary of features

Well, there it is, the new iPhone 3GS. Retailing at £440 for the 16gb model, or £540 for the £32gb model on PAYG. Or you can get a free iPhone 3GS on contract, or even better by following the links above and getting a completely free iPhone 3GS without a contract!

So what are the main features of the free iPhone 3GS? Well.....

To start with the "S" stands for "speed" - according to Apple, it is faster launching applications, rendering Web pages, and processing any number of apps and programs. The free iPhone 3GS has a new processor built-in which is claimed to be twice as fast as that of the free iPhone 3G. It also consumes less electricity, which has an impact on the improved battery life.

Camera
Apple have increased the resolution on the free iPhone 3GS to 3 megapixels, which seems to have improved the picture quality under all conditions. It also has auto focus, auto exposure, and auto white balance. You can also tap to focus, changing white balance in the process. It has special macro and low light modes and the camera also supports photo and video geotagging. Any application can access all the camera functions now.

It supports video at 30 frames per second VGA with auto focus, auto white balance, and auto exposure. The free iPhone 3GS also allows you to trim the video shot just using your finger, then share it via MMS, email, MobileMe and YouTube.

Connectivity
The free iPhone 3GS has the faster 7.2 Mbps 3G standard, which delivers data faster to your iPhone and supports
  • Three band UMTS/HSDPA.
  • Four band GSM/EDGE.
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g.
  • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

Graphics
The free iPhone 3GS includes new 3D graphics support in hardware which means it can run faster and more complicated 3D games. It has the same 3.5-inch widescreen multitouch display as previous generations, but this time it has a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating to prevent unsightly marks.

Design
The free iPhone 3GS has essentially the same design as the free Iphone 3G, including the glossy finish of the back and is also the same size as the free iPhone 3G, being 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches. It is slightly heavier being 135 grams compared to the 133 grams of the free iPhone 3G. It is also made of greener materials such as Arsenic-free glass, and BDF-free, Mercury-free LCD.

New features
The free iPhone 3GS has a magnetometer, which works with a Compass application, third parties, and it is integrated into the new Google maps app, showing your orientation with a small semitransparent cone. It also has voice control, you can instruct it to play similar songs to the one you are playing, or call people. The free iPhone 3GS has Nike + support built in and supports accessibility features, like zooming on text, inverting video, and voice over when you touch whatever text is on screen.

Battery life
One of the big new features of the free iPhone 3GS is the increased battery life. According to Apple, you will get up to 12 hours of talk time on 2G and 5 on 3G, with a up to 300 hour standby time. On 3G, it will deliver 5 hours of internet use and on Wi-Fi up to 9 hours. Video playback is 10 hours vs 30 hours for audio.

Verdict
All in, there is not a massive difference between the free iPhone 3GS and the 3G version. The 3.0 firmware update gives the old 3G a new lease of life and we would say if you have a 3G it is probably not worth the extra investment for the new 3GS.

If you do not have an iPhone already then we would recommend the 3GS. It is a great bit of kit and is finally realising the potential that Apple just missed out on with previous generations. That said it is a very expensive phone and we reckon the best thing to do is to get a free iPhone 3GS following the steps above!

Sky News Launches it's own Free iPhone App!

Sky News have finally followed the BBC and ITN by launching a free iPhone app which brings Sky's news service direct to your iPhone.

The free iPhone app allows you to watch video news headlines, weather and showbiz news, on the go.

You can also use it to send your own news stories and pictures directly to Sky which is a UK first.

Our personal favourite news app has always been ITN but initial thoughts on this new app are extremely positive, especially the ability to watch video on the move - a feature missing from the ITN service. Only time will if it will replace ITN as a our favourite news app.

T-Mobile Austria Leaks New iPhone!!

Further evidence that a new iPhone is on the horizon has been revealed by T-Mobile Austria who have inadvertantly suggested that Apple might be planning to launch a 32GB edition of the free iPhone.

The T-Mobile Austria website had put a holding page for the 32GB free iPhone up with a "coming soon" symbol. The mistake was quickly spotted and the offending page removed.

Of course this could have been an innocent mistake, but it does provide further evidence that Apple will announcing a new iPhone at their upcoming WWDC.

Apple already has a 32GB version of the iPod Touch, so that memory capacity is within the boundaries of a similar type of device, perhaps with Apple launching a 64GB edition of iPod Touch sometime later this year in order to minimise cross over between the gadgets.
